Truestone Builds Efficient Scheduling Technology for the President

The Executive Office of the President (EOP) provides the President of the United States with the support he or she needs to govern effectively.

Overseen by the White House Chief of Staff, the EOP has traditionally been home to the President's closest advisors. The EOP is responsible for tasks ranging from communicating the President's message to the American people to promoting U.S. trade interests abroad.

Specifically, the EOP consists of key advisors focused on national security, domestic, economic and foreign policies. The EOP also includes a variety of key policy-making entities such as the National Security Council, the Office of Management and Budget and the Council of Economic Advisors. Presidents face monumental organizational and management tasks. A great deal of effort goes into managing the President's schedule—prioritizing the President's time and controlling what crosses his or her desk.

After 9/11, demands on the President's time were greater than ever. Fast moving events and changing priorities meant his schedule was constantly in flux. Because the schedule was kept manually by a team of people, the process quickly bogged down, making it difficult to keep everyone up-to-date on where the President should be and when.

Truestone used Microsoft® .NET technology to build an online web based scheduling system for the President. We applied a disciplined Software Development Lifecycle Methodology (SDLC) to create a system that behaves like Outlook but supports the complex scheduling rules that are unique to the President.
