What is it?
First Army mobilizes, trains, validates, and deploys Reserve Component forces in accordance with Combatant Commander, Department of the Army, and FORSCOM Directives. As directed, the Command provides training to Joint, Combined, and Active Army Forces. Specific subordinate missions include:
- Improving pre-mobilization readiness of Reserve Component forces
- Mobilizing, preparing & deploying Army Reserve and National Guard units
- Demobilization Operations
- Certified Training of units and individuals, including counter-IED, counter insurgency and escalation of force training

The Challenge
In accordance with the Army Force Generation (ARFORGEN) model, First Army’s charge is to provide Soldiers, units and leaders that are equipped and ready to fight and win throughout the full spectrum of operations. In addition to
tracking the status of units, equipment and other assets, First Army must continuously monitor significant events — domestic and worldwide — to assess the impact those events may have on the force and the mission.

Truestone also provides a variety of other high value services for the U.S. Army:
- Reviews all staff developed orders for format, clarity, content, and doctrine, ensuring compliance with Army policy.
- Conducts liaison and represents First Army at various Department of the Army, U.S. Army Forces Command, First Army Divisions East and West, and other Federal agencies.
- Implements, maintains and optimizes all databases utilized by First Army Web applications and distributed components;
- Defines data process flows, data modeling, develop database tables and triggers, and backup procedures.
- Installs, operates and maintains unclassified and classified server support. Installs, configures and services client desktop requirements and support all applications run within the First Army Operations Center.
- Develops and maintains Microsoft desktop applications to include analyzing, encoding, testing, debugging and installing software to support the organization’s mission. Includes expert advice and user desk-side support.
- Plans, develops, assembles and recommends complex strategic concept plans for First Army approval.
- Develops planning methodology for reorganization and relocation of subordinate units.
- Planning support includes the preparation and revision of current operations branch plans, to support First Army’s CONUS-wide Pre and Post Mobilization Training and Readiness Oversight mission set and First Army Future Transformation. Conducts mission analysis and course of action development in support of the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP). Serves as lead for the Operational Planning Team (OPT) for First Army.
- Future Plans conducts and coordinates long range and deliberate planning functions in support of First Army’s CONUS-wide ARFORGEN mission and First Army Future Transformation. Future Plans acts as the lead for the command’s Operational Planning Group.
